Nood Hair Removal Review

Adriana Bailey • June, 2023

Hair removal can get pretty expensive, especially with professional methods like laser or waxing. Over the course of a lifetime, using an IPL hair removal is the most cost-effective method to get smooth. That’s because IPL devices like Nood make it possible to pay once for a device that’ll help you achieve hairlessness in the long term. In this Nood review, we’ll explain how these types of devices work, and then delve into how Nood works and whether it’s worth the price in comparison to our own Evertone IPL hair removal device.

Nood Hair Removal Review

Developed by Sam Garst, Nood’s The Flasher is one of the most recognizable IPL hair removal devices. As with most light-based hair removal devices for home use, the Flasher (as well as today’s iteration of it, The Flasher 2.0) works based on IPL which stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Unlike laser, IPL is a broadband light that hits the skin at several wavelengths. It’s a little slower to work compared to laser hair removal, but it’s much safer for home use.

Evertone Laser Hair Removal Device

Evertone is an advanced, science-based skincare brand dedicated to full-body renewal and smoothness, with devices and products that target the most common beauty concerns, from stretch marks and scars to unwanted hair. The Evertone Eversmooth is an accessible, easy-to-use IPL hair removal device

Nood Laser Hair Removal Device vs. Evertone

If you’re trying to decide which IPL hair removal device to buy, it’s important to consider these key Evertone and Nood review factors

Technology and Mechanism
Both Evertone’s and Nood’s laser hair removal devices are actually based on IPL, a broad-spectrum light. The IPL targets melanin in the hair follicle in order to create damage that prevents regrowth, which leads to long-lasting hair reduction over time.

The Evertone Eversmooth has five intensity levels that can be easily adjusted with the press of a button. For beginners, those with sensitive skin, and those with medium-deep skin, it’s best to start with the lower settings. Nood’s Flasher 2.0 has seven intensity levels, so the range of options is slightly greater, albeit at similar intensities within the range.

 Skin Types
IPL unfortunately does not work on all skin types. The technology relies on the difference between the colors of the hair and skin in order to identify and zap the unwanted hairs.

Between the two devices, the Evertone Eversmooth can be used on more people than The Flasher 2.0. The Eversmooth’s lower settings are gentle enough to be safe on those up to Fitzpatrick skin type 5, while Nood’s device will only work up to Fitzpatrick skin type 4. In other words, if you have medium-deep skin, the Eversmooth is the better choice, whereas if your skin is medium, tan, or lighter, you can use either device.

 Safety
Compared to laser hair removal, IPL is gentle enough for home use. That said, you may still wonder - Is Nood safe? What about Evertone? Good news on that front! Both IPL devices are FDA-cleared as Class II medical devices, which means that the technology in them is considered safe and effective by the US FDA.

While there is a minor risk of side effects like skin irritation or burning, it usually occurs only as the result of improper use, such as choosing too high of a treatment setting or using the device too frequently. Both devices can be used safely almost anywhere on the body, including the face. The exception is around the eyes.

 Ease of Use
Both Nood and Evertone’s devices are simple to use. They must be plugged in to work, but operating them is done with a single button. Once Evertone’s IPL device is turned on and placed in contact with the skin, it will pulse repeatedly, allowing the user to move it from spot to spot.

The Flasher 2.0 from Nood has a trademarked PrecisionPulse that works similarly to ensure continuous pulses, but it can be used in a continuous glide that is a little simpler for beginner users. That said, the glide movement isn’t necessarily conducive to the best results when compared to precise placement over the skin. Treatment times are similar, as well. Treating a single large body part can take up to 10 minutes, and doing the full body will usually take around 45 minutes.

Results and Effectiveness
Both Nood’s and Evertone’s devices are extremely effective at significantly reducing hair growth. Nood promises extremely fast results - the brand recommends using the device twice a week for 8 weeks to see optimal results. With the Evertone Eversmooth, once a week is ideal, for maximum results within 12 weeks. With both devices, it’s recommended to keep up with monthly treatments to maintain the results. If you’re looking for faster results, you might prefer Nood. However, if you have limited time every week, you might prefer the Eversmooth to use just per week.

Cost
This is one category where there’s a clear winner - Evertone’s Eversmooth is significantly cheaper than Nood’s The Flasher 2.0. At just $99, it’s even cheaper than a single professional laser hair removal treatment. Nood’s device is more than double the price for relatively similar results.

Nood Laser Hair Removal Device vs. Evertone: Which to Buy?

Both Nood and Evertone home hair removal devices are excellent options that will give your skin lasting smoothness. The key differences are in suggested use frequency, and in ideal candidates.

The Evertone Eversmooth can take a little longer to show results (in a matter of just a few weeks), but it can be used by a broader range of users, including those with medium-deep skin tones. By comparison, Nood’s The Flasher 2.0 should only be used on skin types up to Fitzpatrick 4 which is considered tan or medium, but you might see results as fast as within 8 weeks with twice-weekly use. The final major difference is cost. Nood’s The Flasher 2.0 is more than double the price of the Evertone Eversmooth. If budget is a major consideration for you, this makes the Eversmooth an ideal option for eliminating hair without breaking the bank.
